Porsche MIssion E Electric RESERVATIONS open
Reservations for the Porsche Mission E – Porsche’s first electric car – have opened in Norway a year before the car launches, as Porsche tries to grab some real orders.
The Porsche Mission E four-door electric supercar arrived as a concept in 2015, and has had plenty of coverage despite it still being a year away from launching, not having a proper name, and not having been seen in production guise yet.But that’s not stopping Porsche opening reservations for their new car and, just as Jaguar did with the I-Pace and Audi has done with the e-tron, they’re opening up for business in Norway – Europe’s EV capital.
According to Electrek, Porsche has written to all those Norwegians who have expressed an interest in the Mission E asking them to put down a deposit to keep their place in the queue for the new electric Porsche.
Prospective buyers are being asked to put down a deposit £1,800 to secure their place in the queue, but as Porsche has yet to reveal pricing for the Mission E the deposit is refundable if buyers change their minds when pricing for the Mission E is revealed.
What we do know is that the Mission E will be similarly priced to the Porsche Panamera – according to Porsche’s Oliver Blume – which means it should start at around £75,000 and go up to £120k plus.
That price span for the Mission E is because Porsche are planning to deliver three different versions of the Mission E, with an entry-level model delivering around 400bhp, a mid-level model with around 540bhp and a range-topping Mission E with 670bhp.
Despite the Mission E order book opening in Norway, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to place an order for the Mission E in the UK before the end of the year. After that, it’s almost certain Porsche will then deliver a production version of the Mission E Cross Turismo.
