Skoda Kodiaq Sportline joins the Kodiaq and Kodiaq Scout in the new SUV range

The Skoda Kodiaq Sportline joins the Kodiaq range, bringing with its some bling and flash as a counterpoint to the Kodiaq Scout’s country vibe.

It’s take Skoda a long time to deliver an SUV of any kind, but they’re certainly making up for it with the Kodiaq.

Launched at the Paris Motor Show last September, the Kodiaq does look a decent competitor, and with seven seats and prices from a reasonable £21,495, it’s going to sell well and take sales from the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento  – and even more from the VW Tiguan.

But Skoda aren’t content with just delivering a decent soft-roading SUV for families, they’re working the Kodiaq to appeal to specific buyers too.

Just yesterday we got news of the Skoda Kodiaq Scout, a Kodiaq with added bits of butch (although a lot is faux butch) to appeal to those who want a Kodiaq for more than just the school run, and today we’re treated to the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline.

Just as the Scout does what you’d expect a Skoda Scout to do, the Kodiaq Sportline does what it says on the tin, although the Sportline bit is about looks, not performance.

That means cosmetic bling, with big 19″ alloys (20″ options), black where you might expect chrome, tweaked bumpers, Alcantara sports seats, leather steering wheel and aluminium pedals. There’s even a G-Force meter.

But despite the looks (and the G-Force meter) the only engine options for the Sportline are the same as those for the Scout – including standard 4WD –  namely a 1.4 and 2.0 litre TSI petrol and a 2.0 litre TDI diesel with 148 bhp or 187 bhp.

Just like the Scout, the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline is heading for a Geneva Motor Show reveal.
