When the car you produce also gets made under another – higher profile – badge than your own, how to you get buyers to sit up and take notice of your offerings? Easy, you make your car better value.
But that’s not the old entry-level BRZ, but the ‘new’ entry-level BRZ as Subaru has now cut their BRZ range to just two offerings, with the old top-spec BRZ SE Lux in manual or auto the only model available.
That means that the BRZ SE Lux undercuts the GT86 by more than £1,000 and offers a decent level of standard equipment. That spec includes Alcantara and leather trim, Torsen diff and flappy paddles if you opt for the auto version.
Paul Tunnicliffe, Subaru’s UK MD, said:
A more favourable exchange rate between the pound and yen has allowed us to reduce the price of a number of models in recent years, and our performance range – the BRZ and WRX STI – are the latest to benefit.
Together, they represent outstanding value for enthusiast drivers seeking a high level of performance, driver interaction and entertainment on the road.
So if you were struggling to decide whether you should grab the Subaru or the Toyota, this price cut seems to be a clincher. Unless Toyota react.
