Subaru UK has revealed that the Subaru XV Crossover can now be specified with the world’s first self-cleaning function for a car.

It’s a decent effort from Subaru, with added credibility as a compact urban warrior coming from Subaru’s 4WD prowess, a choice of a couple of petrol engines and a couple of diesels, manual or auto options and prices from £21k to £30k.
But in a crowded market place it’s good to have a USP, so Subaru has pushed the boat out and is offering a world first for the Subaru XV – a self-cleaning function.
Developed with the help of some of the world’s leading engineers, Subaru’s AF Self Cleaning Technology works by using energy present in the environment to activate low-voltage currents on the bodywork – at a push of a button on the key fob – which cancels the surface tension holding dirt to the car.
It’s a clever trick using simple surface tension technology – and not a drop of water – to remove one of the most tedious aspects of car ownership.
The AF Self Cleaning technology will be available on the XV from 1st April for £1,412. Which, if you keep the XV for three years, means it’ll only have cost £9 a week to save you having to give up your Sunday to wash your pride and joy.
Sounds like a bargain.
