Matt LeBlanc has been confirmed officially as one of the presenters of the ‘New’ Top Gear alongside Chris Evans.
There has been endless speculation about who will join Chris Evans to present the new Top Gear, but there has been nothing official from the BBC. Until now.
Matt LeBlanc – he of Friends and, more recently, Episodes – is to joining the Ginger one to present the new Top Gear when it airs later this year.
LeBlanc is the first American – in fact, the first non-British – presenter of Top Gear, and the announcement from the BBC finally ends months of speculation about who will be joining Evans to try and make Top Gear work after the departure of Clarkson, Hammond and May.
LeBlanc is a proper Petrolhead, and has had the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ outing under the previous regime, but now he’s going to have to find his feet as the new Hammond (or May).
Chris Evans said:
Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas.
We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.
So, that’s one presenter confirmed to join Chris. But who will be announced next?
Pete says
Top Gear will never work after the departure of Clarkson, Hammond and May. The Ginger Whinger can’t drive and talk at the same time, spews when driven above walking pace and is too ugly to be on TV. Brits don’t like American journos and even though Sabine Schmidt is quick behind the wheel she wouldn’t exactly make the show interesting.
Truth is, it was the Clarkson, Hammond and May and their antics who made the show. Top Gear is well and truly dead.
