The new series of Top Gear – Series 18 – starts on Sunday 29th January. We take a look at what’s on offer.

The last outing for Top Gear was the slightly third-rate outing to India for the Christmas Special, but the latest series of Top Gear – Series 18, starting on Sunday January 29th – looks far more promising, certainly if the trailer and photos we’ve got to preview series 18 are anything to go by.

There’s an outing with Ray Winstone and the new Sweeney film on the Isle of Sheppey with the new Focus ST, and Hammond drives a Pace Car with some advice from Juan Pablo Montoya. It also looks like Jeremy’s got his hands on a Blower Bentley to pit it against the mighty pre-war, 46 litre V12 BMW Brutus.

Supercars look like they abound, from the Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren MP4-12C and Noble M600 by way of the Ariel Atom V8 and KTM X-Bow, and a barking mad Mercedes C63 AMG. There’s doubtless a celeb or three on show, with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson certainly making an appearance.

New Stig gets to put in an appearance, not just in regular guise but as China Stig as the Top Gear boys go to China to play with local stuff, and also as a dapper babe-magnet Italian Stig as the boys go to Italy to play with the aforementioned MP4-12C, Aventador and M600. Oh, and at least one caravan gets blown up.

It all looks good. Let’s hope the new series of Top Gear lives up to the promise of this preview.
