Top Gear tonight – series 22 episode 3 – sees Messrs Clarkson, May and Hammond build better ambulances and star in a reasonably priced car is F1’s Daniel Ricciardo.

Top Gear Tonight: Building ‘Better’ ambulances
We’re already on episode 3 of the new Top Gear Series (series 22), and tonight’s episode (8pm BBC 2 8 February) is almost a one trick pony, or so it seems.
The script is familiar, with Jeremy Clarkson deciding that what ambulances really need to be – rather than diesel Transit vans – is quick and nimble so they can get to an emergency in double quick time. Clarkson therefore decides to adapt a Porsche to the task.
James May, on the other hand, wants to make the the whole traumatic event more comfortable for the patient, so he chooses to adapt a hearse to make an ambulance, and Richard Hammond decides the major problem is other drivers not getting out of the way, so he mocks his van up as a carrier of nuclear waste.
It’s a familiar script, just with new vehicles and end-point. It also seems it’s really the whole episode, and as far as we can see Top Gear don’t have a car on test tonight. Although they could surprise us.
What they do have is Red Bull’s F1 star of 2014, with Australian Daniel Ricciardo as the F1 Star in a Reasonably Priced Car – which will mean breaking out the old Suzuki Liana.
Top Gear – Series 22 Episode 3 – airs tonight in the UK on BBC2 at 8pm.
