Supercars in Italy - Top Gear is back
Back in November we reported that Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May were filming for Top Gear in Italy with the Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren MP4-12C and Noble M600, and tonight that road trip features in the first episode of series 18.
The boys start at the Nardo testing ground, there’s a sojourn in Lecce (which is where we reported them filming), a re-hash of the ‘Supercars in a European Capital’ driving trauma from Paris a couple of series ago – but this time in Rome – with the trip ending up with a race against the Stig’s time at Imola.
In amongst the mayhem the Stig’s dapper Italian cousin makes an appearance, complete with Italian suit, a bevy of Italian beauties – and his white helmet. Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am, producer extraordinaire and Cheryl Cole’s bestist best friend.
It looks like Top Gear may be back in the groove with this new series, with some decent cars on offer and a bit less low budget dicking around and a bit more supercar action. And it has to be better than the India special at Christmas.
Top Gear Series 18 Episode 1 is on BBC2 tonight – 29th January 2012 – at 8pm. Set the Sky+.
