The Toyota C-HR Concept – which debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show – will turn in to a production model for the Geneva Motor Show next month.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, we got our first look at the Toyota C-HR Crossover Concept as Toyota works to build its SUV and Crossover offerings in a burgeoning market. And now we’re getting a production version, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks time.We can probably expect the production version of the C-HR to be a little toned-down from the funky concept – which looks a lot like a Toyota take on the Nissan Juke – but in terms of size it’ll be nearer the Juke than the RAV4, and give a new model to garner SUV and Crossover sales for Toyota in the UK, Europe, and even North America.
The production C-HR will be built on Toyota’s new TNGA Global Platform – which underpins the new Prius – and will come with a hybrid powertrain option from launch, as well as petrol and diesel options.
The C-HR will be built at Toyota’s plant in Turkey, joining the Verso and Corolla, where Toyota has invested some £270 million to almost double production from the current level of 150,000 a year. Which suggests they have big hopes for the C-HR.
The production take on the C-HR will get its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, with production expected to get underway later in 2016.
