Toyota C-HR is the Parkers New Car of the Year
The new Toyota C-HR has won the first Parkers New Car of the Year Award, beating off competition from the Skoda Kodiaq, SEAT Ibiza and BMW 5 Series Touring.
We recently had the new Toyota C-HR in for review, and we were very impressed. The C-HR is a car you could never have imagined from Toyota just a few years ago, with its funky looks, zingy little 1.2 litre turbo and people appealing driving dynamics. In our eyes it’s a complete success.
And it seems Parkers – they of car advice for, really, non-petrolheads – fully agree, as they’ve just voted it the best new car in the UK.
Parkers say the little Toyota took their gong because of its futuristic looks, low-cost engine option and long five-year warranty. No argument here.
Breaking with tradition, Parkers has eschewed normal categorisation monikers for car awards, choosing instead to come up with categories which illustrate car-buyers views.
So instead of ‘Best SUV’, Best Luxury’, ‘Best Supermini’ etc, we get stuff like ‘Best New Car, Best Car for Small Families’ and ‘Best Seven Seater’. Which makes sense.
Parkers delivered 16 category winners, with gongs going to a wide range of car makers including Kia, BMW, Skoda, Mazda, Ford, Mercedes, Renault, VW, Nissan, Vauxhall and Porsche. So they spread the love around.
To make the razzamatazz affordable, Parkers also managed to get the rest of Bauer Media’s companies to sponsor the awards, so you got some interesting gongs like ‘Best Family Car in association with Mother & Baby’ and ‘Best Luxury Car in association with Today’s Golfer’.
