Toyota GT86 (pictured) gets a bit of a facelift
The Toyota GT86 is getting a bit of a facelift, with mainly small cosmetic changes inside and out and suspension tweaks. Debuts at the New York Motor Show.
It’s only a week until the New York Motor Show kicks off, but Toyota has decided not top wait until the show itself to reveal the facelifted GT86, with the first pictures showing a very mildly revised car.The main cosmetic changes are to the nose of the GT86, with a bigger front grille and new bumper, mildly revised fog lights and LED headlights, There are also new 10-spoke alloys.
Toyota has also had a play with the GT86’s interior to try and make it a bit more ‘premium’ (although they haven’t released and photos), with new leather and Alcantara upholstery on the doors and instrument panel, contrast stitching and a new steering wheel.
Under the skin, the only changes appear to be to the suspension (with no mention of any power, performance or economy improvements), with revised damper and spring rates for increased agility (which probably means a harder ride too).
The Toyota GT 86 isn’t expected to go on sale in the UK until late in 2016, and although there may be a small price rise to accompany the very minor facelift, the starting point isn’t likely to change much from the current £22,700 starting point.
