Vauxhall Crossland X SUV teased
The Vauxhall Crossland X is teased by Vauxhall as an SUV replacement for the Meriva, joining the Mokka X and debuting at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Vauxhall aren’t exactly ahead of the curve in responding to the market’s love of crossovers and SUVs, but they are starting to respond and this tease for the 2017 Vauxhall Crossland X (which will, of course, be the Opel Crossland X in Europe and elsewhere) shows the next GM step to appeal to that market.Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017, the Crossland X is the replacement for the Meriva, a car which once sold very well when all buyers wanted was a roomy family car, but now they want to look a bit rufty-tufty it’s lost its gloss.
So the Crossland X will butch things up and sit alongside the new butched-up Mokka – the Mokka X – but will be a bit less aggressive, offering a less masculine design with more space and practicality and look a bit like a Crossover/SUV take on the Vauxhall Adam.
Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s MD, said:
The Crossland X will sit next to the Mokka X in our range, but their identities will be well-defined, and we anticipate that each will have its own following. More will be revealed at the start of next year, but we’re excited about the way Vauxhall’s crossover and SUV family is shaping up – and there’s more to come.
Underpinning the Crossland X isn’t anything from GM, but a PSA platform which will underpin the next Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 2008, and it’s expected all three cars will be built at GM’s plant in Zaragoza, Spain.
Expect more teases and information on the new Crossland X before it gets its public début in Geneva next year.
