Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid4
The Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid4 arrives as Vauxhall starts its electric push, offering a 296bp power combination and official economy of 128mpg.
PSA has managed to turn Vauxhall Opel around in the short time they’ve been in charge, and now starts the electric push for Vauxhall with the arrival of this – the new Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid4.The Grandland X Hybrid4 is Vauxhall’s firts plug-in hybrid, and it’s rather an appealing one.
The ICE bit uses a 197bhp 2.0 litre petrol four-pot, with the electric bit coming from a pair of electric motors good for 107bhp and a combined usable output of 296bhp. Despite that, official economy is a rather barking 128mpg.
The front electric motor is mated to an electrified eight-speed auto ‘box and the second motor in to the electrically-powered back axle. So the Grandland X Hybrid4 is, as the name suggest, 4WD.
There are four driving modes – electric, hybrid, AWD and Sport – and Vauxhall reckons you can do 30 miles in EV mode (nearer 20 in the real world, probably).
The car comes as standard with a 3.3kW on-board charger (you can upgrade that to a 6.6kW version), and with a 7.3kW wallbox at home it’s a two-hour charge to full.
Vauxhall hasn’t come up with prices yet, but the Grandland X Hybrid4 will be followed later this year by a full Corsa BEV as Vauxhall continues its electric push.
