The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, a convertible take on last year’s Vision 6 Coupe, has been revealed at Pebble Beach. And it looks stunning.
Last year, Mercedes took the Vision 6 Maybach Concept to Pebble Beach and stunned visitors with a massive electric coupe which looked like an up to date take on the Maybach Exelero. But it was just a concept.
We figured Mercedes were just making the point they could, even though the Maybach experiment to bury BMW’s Rolls Royce failed, build a stunning coupe which epitomised the ultimate in luxury coupes.
But now we’re beginning to wonder if Mercedes are panning ultra-luxury standalone Maybach models once again, because here they are, a year on, with an even more stunning version of the Vision 6 at Pebble Beach.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet does what it says by taking the roof off the Vision 6 and turning it in to a luxury Land Yacht. It looks terrific.
Somehow, despite it being 5.7 metres long and 1.2 meter wide it only seats two in a cabin swathed in buttoned Crystal white Nappa leather with an open-pore wood floor and aluminium inlays, a pair of dials, full width digital display and a pair of HUDs to keep you informed.
Just the the Coupe, the Cabriolet comes with 748bhp from four electric motors and an underfloor battery pack which will, say Mercedes, get the Vision 6 Cabriolet to 62mph in under 4 seconds and keep going for 200 miles.
It’s a stunning demonstration of what Mercedes could deliver as a standalone Maybach Cabriolet.
But will it ever see the light of day?
