Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury LEAKS
The Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury has leaked ahead of its debut at the Beijing Motor Show, and it’s a high-riding luxury Maybach Crossover with 750bhp.
We assumed Mercedes were planning to deliver their Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept at Beijing as a Maybach take on the new Mercedes GLS. But it’s more a Maybach luxury take on what Jaguar has delivered with the I-Pace.It’s a high-riding Crossover with a Maybach grille and flat notch back back end, and its electric motors – for the Maybach Crossover is an Electric Crossover – are good for 750bhp.
The four electric motors deliver four-wheel drive with underbody batteries (much easier in a Crossover) with 80kWh capacity – good for around 300 miles of range – and able to charge rapidly if you have access to a 350kW charge – 60 miles of charge in five minutes, say Mercedes.

Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Interior
Mercedes say the Maybach Concept is modelled on the S-Class and comes with crystal white nappa leather with diamond stitching in rose gold with reclining seats with calf adjustment and a backrest adjusted separately while the footwell and seat point remain in place.
There’s a big centre console which extends to the back and comes with a heated tray with teapots and cups (yes, it’s perfect for China and the UK) and organises your environment and life, playing the right music at the right time, knows your schedule and plots the route, offers massaging and fragrancing, with three levels of rising information from the Widescreen Cockpit and interactive voice controls.
Gorden Wagener, Mercedes Chief Design Officer, said:
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury is a totally new archetype of a kind never seen before. Our concept combines the DNA of an SUV with that of a saloon to produce an ultra-modern SUV of three-box design.
With sensuality and pure sophistication, we have created a timeless vehicle that underscores the position of Mercedes-Maybach as the ultimate luxury brand.

Article mentions a 365kw charging system. Has anyone done the maths with these figures for even a relatively small number of such vehicles on the roads. The national grid in UK would be put under tremendous if not impossible load to cope with these demands. How many cars are on roads? It numbers into the millions and if they were all to be electric I’m afraid it wouldn’t work unless we start building huge power stations to cater for their needs. How are the power stations to be sourced??? Is nuclear energy the answer (it has it’s own problems obviously). Someone had better come up with something fast because problems are getting worse not better!

Looks to me like Mercedes are trying to get Maybach competing with RR again with their high sided SUV. How much will it cost – £300-400 thousand?
