The Volvo Concept Universe – could this be the Volvo S90?
Volvo has released a video teasing the Volvo Concept Universe, which we expect to launch at the Shanghai Motor Show next week.
As you really can’t have failed to notice, we have two major motor shows looming – the 2011 New York Motor Show and the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show. Both are vying to host the best reveals and so far it seems honours are even. But this is one reveal we think is likely to happen in Shanghai.
We’ve grabbed the video below – and the image above – of what Volvo are calling the Volvo Concept Universe. And that’s it. All they’re saying is it’s new and it’ll launch shortly. But what is it?
Our money is on a high-end, luxury crossover, perhaps something along the lines of the Peugeot SXC Concept from yesterday. A Volvo to go up against the high-end models like the Jaguar XJ, but do it in a big crossover way. Which could be right up the Chinese luxury car buyer’s street.
If we’re right – and it’s just a punt – then it seems likely it will end up being the Volvo S90. Or maybe Volvo will come up with another suffice to suit a range of crossovers.
We’re probably going to get a few more teases in the run up to Shanghai next weekend, so we may get more idea as they come in. In the meantime, if you have any guesses, let us know.
