Pictures of the BMW M1 Homage (Hommage)
To celebrate the thirty year anniversary of the original BMW M1 Supercar, BMW created an M1 Homage (or, if you’re German, M1 Hommage), which had the same mid-engined setup as the original M1 but in a modern body.
It seemed likely that BMW were about to create a new M1 for the 21st century – despite denials and assertions that the M1 Homage was a one-off – but so far there has been no sign that BMW are actually going to do so. Despite that, BMW did take the M1 Homage to the Melbourne Motor Show in 2009.
Update December 2012: BMW has now said that although they did consider building a new M1 they have decided it doesn’t fit with the ethos of BMW M Cars and that there are now no future plans for a halo car in the BMW range. All future M cars will be based on existing BMW Models.
