Lexus are promising a ‘Two Seat Supercar’ at the Tokyo Motor Show. Will this be the Lexus LF-A ready to go, or do Lexus have something up their sleeves?
The Lexus LF-A has been on the cards for four years. First shown at the North American Motor Show in 2005 it’s ben an on-off project ever since. But there’s been more sightings of the LF-A testing at the Nurburgring recently so it looked likely that Lexus were getting close to an announcement. We’ve had an email from Lexus telling us that the LF-Ch will be at Tokyo after its launch at Frankfurt, but the info we got also says that Lexus are bringing a two seat supercar to Tokyo which “epitomises the purest form of driving exhilaration and performance”. Has to be the LF-A.
Although Lexus are saying they’ll issue information on the car on 21st October, it seems likely the LF-A will feature a V10 with something in excess of 500bhp. The same engine is rumoured to be going in to the new Lotus Esprit when that turns up in a couple of years.
But we’re guessing this might just be a different version of the LF-A to the one we’ve seen out testing. That car is well known – and even turned up at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July – so it seems a bit odd that we’re being told we will see a ‘Two-Seat Supercar’ instead of mentioning the LFA.
Could Lexus have a surprise up their sleeves? We’ll see.
