Mercedes SL Night Edition & Mercedes SLK Grand Edition launched

The Mercedes SL Night Edition and SLK Grand Edition

The Mercedes SL Night Edition and SLK Grand Edition

Mercedes has launched special edition of the SL and SLK – The Mercedes SLK Grand Edition and the Mercedes SL Night Edition.

It’s New Year, the weather’s freezing and there’s a blanket of snow covering much of Europe. What better time to launch special editions of a couple of high-end convertibles?

But I suppose there is some logic. For all the reasons above people tend not to buy convertibles – even tin-top convertibles – at this time of the year. They’re wrong, mind you, as we pointed out a few weeks ago. Now is the time to snap up- a bargain convertible in anticipation of days without slush, snow and ice.

So Mercedes has decided now is the time to launch a couple of Special Edition models of their tin-top convertibles – The Mercedes SL Night Edition and the Mercedes SLK Grand Edition.

The Mercedes SL is a great car, but it’s coming to the end of its shelf life, but a Special Edition will inject a little oomph in to sales. The SL Night gets high-gloss, two-tone 19″ AMG alloys, silver painted calipers, smoked light lenses, a matt black paint job and a badge or three. Inside it’s more back-to-black with black Nappa leather, contrast arrow-shaped stitching, sports steering wheel and a black gear lever.

The Mercedes SLK gets a similar makeover with 18″ alloys, silver fins on the bonnet, headlight accents and a Designo Graphite paint job. Inside is a canvas in grey, with grey Nappa leather with red stitching and a ‘Grand Edition’ logo slapped on the glovebox.

Cost of the SL Night Edition Package is €3,700 and for the SLK Grand Edition €2,300. Mercedes hasn’t got back to us yet to say whether we can get these special editions in the UK, but we’ll update here once we know.
