The 2016 Ford Focus RS starts to roll off the production line in Germany
The 2016 Ford Focus RS has finally gone in to production in Germany as the first customer car deliveries for the UK get ever closer.
It seems like a very long time since the new 2016 Ford Focus RS went on sale, but only now is the Focus RS actually being built, with the first new RS cars finally rolling off the production line in Saarlouis, Germany. For the 1500 UK buyers of the Focus RS who has already placed an order in October last year (and no doubt a chunk more since) it means they can finally look forward to a real car turning up with their name on it at their UK Ford dealer in a few weeks (well, maybe a bit longer).
It also means that those outside of Ford will finally get to play with the production version of the Focus RS, a car which promises to be the most impressive RS Ford to date.
With prices starting at under £29k – and even a hugely loaded RS costing under £34k – the new RS looks to be a junior supercar-baiting hot hatch par excellence.
With 345bhp coming from its 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine and delivered to all four wheels, torque vectoring, launch control, a drift mode and performance of 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, the new Focus RS looks properly brilliant.
And new owners now don’t have very long to wait to find out just how good it is in the real world, and on real roads.
We’d be surprised if they’re disappointed.
