2016 Kia Sportage UK prices and specs announced

The 2016 Kia Sportage goes on sale in the UK this month with prices from £17,995 with a choice of four engines and six trim options.

The 2016 Kia Sportage got its first outing at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, and it now goes on sale in the UK with a choice of four engines, six trim levels and three gearboxes. So, something for everyone.

Kia has added a GT-Line version of the Sportage – costing from £24,350 – for a bit of a sporty take on the crossover, and there’s also the option of a Sportage First Edition with all the bells and whistles for £31,645.

There are also more engines on offer with the arrival of the 1.6 litre T-GDi turbo petrol in the Sportage range, with reworked versions of the 1.6 litre GDi petrol and 1.7 and 2.0 litre diesels which see reductions of up to 29g/km in emissions (and therefore improvements in economy).

Imaginatively, the regular trim levels are badged 1, 2, 3 and 4, with the GT-Line and First Edition sitting at the top of the new Sportage range, with all versions with the 1.6 petrol and 1.7 diesel getting FWD, and those with the 1.6 turbo and 2.0 litre diesels getting 4WD. GT-Line Sportages also get a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox option.

All Sportage models come with alloy wheels, LED running lights, cornering lights, electric door mirrors, electric windows, Air Con, DAB, Bluetooth, Hill Start and Downhill Brake Control.

Opt for the Sportage 2 and you can add in stuff like 17″ alloys, 7″ touchscreen Sat Nav, reversing camera, privacy glass, folding and heated door mirrors, auto lights and wipers, rear parking sensors, Climate and Lane Keep Assist.

Sportage 3 adds in 19″ alloys, black leather, heated seats, 8″ Sat Nav screen and JBL premium sound, with Sportage 4 adding adaptive headlights, front parking sensors, keyless, panoramic roof, electric seats, heated steering wheel, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection.

Move on from the core trim levels to the new Sportage GT-Line and you get a trim level sitting somewhere between 2 and 3, but with 19″ alloys, LED tail lights, flappy paddles, parking sensors, heated seats, an exterior styling pack that includes a bit of a body kit, dual exhausts and skid plates plus an interior styling pack with black leather with grey inserts, gloss black trim and a sports steering wheel.

The 2016 Kia Sportage goes on sale at Kia’s UK dealers on 5 February.
