The 2016/2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – due to be revealed at the Detroit Motor Show – has been fully revealed in a full leaked photo gallery.
Mercedes-Benz has been busy teasing the 2016 E-Class ahead of its debut at the Detroit Motor Show next week, but the German motoring press has beaten it to the reveal with the publication of a full gallery of photos of the new E-Class.We’ve already seen the interior of the new E-Class as Mercedes started the run-up to its reveal, but all we’ve officially seen of the exterior is a design sketch which, as we expected, was a sketch with a chunk of artistic licence dialled in to make it a bit more dynamic.
So instead of the very dynamic-looking E-Class the design sketch promised, we get a new E-Class that looks like a cross between the C-Class and S-Class, with smoother lines and Mercedes’ new design language. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
The new E-Class is underpinned by a variation of the same MRA platform used on both the C-Class and S-Class, gets digital instruments (apart from the base model) and a choice of three suspension setups.
At launch, there will be an E200 with a 2.0 litre petrol engine, although the big seller in the UK and Europe will be the new E220d which gets ba new 2.0 litre diesel engine said to be good for 192bhp and 72.4 mpg. It also looks like there will be an E400 petrol option at launch too.
Now the new E-Class is out in the wild, we’d expect Mercedes top respond with an official reveal shortly.
More then.
