2016 Mercedes E-Class teased again
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is teased once more by Mercedes ahead of its Detroit Motor Show debut, despite being already fully revealed.
Just a few days ago, we published a full photo gallery of the 2016 Mercedes Benz E-Class – official photos, just not officially released -and surmised that Mercedes would do the sensible thing and reveal their new E-Class soon after. But they haven’t.Instead, they’re persisting with yet another ‘tease’ for the new E-Class, a tease showing just the front end in a moodily lit photo.
Mercedes hasn’t given any more specific information on what exactly the new E-Class will offer (although we have a fair idea), but are instead focussing on what Mercedes, as inventors of the motor car, will bring to the market with their new car.
Mercedes say the new E-Class reflects the ‘absolute state of the art of automotive development’, including an innovative plug-in hybrid system, new multi-chamber air suspension, Active Lane Change Assist that steers ‘as if by magic’, and is also a milestone on the way to the self-driving car.
Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler and head of Mercedes, said:
For Mercedes, as the inventor of the automobile, it was always clear that the next great revolution in mobility would be the self-driving car.
People have been dreaming of self-driving cars since the 1950s. We at Mercedes were the ones who once turned the vision of mobility without a horse into reality. Now it’s time for us to offer the possibility of managing without a driver as well.
The debut of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class next week has a lot to live up to.
