2017 Kia Picanto on sale UK in May – includes new Picanto GT Line (pictured)
The new Kia Picanto goes on sale in the UK in May, costing from £9,450 and including new Picanto GT Line and a choice of three engine options.
The new Kia Picanto was first revealed in January, ahead of a public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and now it’s about to go on sale in the UK.Kia has extended the offerings with this new Picanto to include a bit of a sporty offering with the GT Line and GT Line S trims which come with a bit of a butch body kit, more equipment, special paint and cost from £11,950 to £13,950.
All the new Picanto models come with five doors – the idea that sporty models get just three doors seems to be old hat now – and all offer more room than the previous model.
Kia has managed to squeeze a total of nine different models out of a range offering 1, 2, 3, GT Line and GT Line S trim, with an initial choice of the 1.0 and 1.25 litre naturally aspirated petrol engines from the last generation Picanto, and the addition of a turbo version of the 1.0 litre with 99bhp on the way.
Kia are at pains to declare that small cars doesn’t mean small specs, with even the Picanto 1 getting keyless, electric front windows, auto headlights, Hill Start and AUX and USB ports.

The Picanto 2 adds Air Con, electric windows in the back, Bluetooth, improved sound system, body coloured mirrors and handles, gloss black interior trim and 14″ alloys.
The top of the regular range – the Picanto 3 – adds 15″ alloys, a supervision infotainment cluster, autonomous braking, fogs, electric mirrors, climate, cruise, 7″ Sat Nav, DAB and parking camera and sensors.
The Picanto GT Line gets 16″ alloys, body kit with new bumpers, dual exhaust, fake leather, privacy glass, LED running lights a chrome beltline strip and stainless steel pedals, with GT Line S adding wireless phone charging, heated seats and wheel, keyless start, 7″ Infotainment, Sat Nav and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Kia has high hopes for the new Picanto, and is also hoping the new GT Line models will attract new, younger, buyers to the brand.
The new Kia Picanto is available to order from Kia’s UK dealers in May.
