2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class caught on video on and around the Nurburgring

The next generation Mercedes-Benz A Class has been caught on video in Germany testing ahead of a debut in 2018, probably at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

It was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 that the current Mercedes A-Class arrived, turning Mercedes’ little upright shopping cart A-Class in to a more traditional hatchback.

A bit of a facelift followed in 2015, but now it’s time for the next generation A-Class to arrive, and ahead of its debut, probably at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes are out playing with the 2018 A-Class in Germany.

Caught on video on and around the Nurburgring, the A-Class looks to have got bigger and is expected to be a bit sleeker too, taking most of its design cues from the Mercedes Concept A we saw earlier this year.

Despite the Mercedes Concept A being a saloon, it’ll be this A-Class Hatch which arrives first – although a saloon version will arrive this time round – and it will come with more technology and more powerful engines.

The new engines will include the usual range of petrols and diesels, but the new A45 AMG will get 400bhp this time round, and there’s expected to be a lower power AMG version with around 300bhp too.

The interior is going to get a major makeover too, with the new A-Class getting similar dual touchscreens and layout to the new E-Class.

But the arrival of the new A Class Hatch in 2018 will be just the start for the A-Class range, as it will be followed by the saloon, the CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA and a new electric Mercedes EQ A.
