The Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid hypercar – Porsche’s answer to the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari – has just a few months production left before it’s sold out.

With 2013 the year of the hybrid hypercar, wealthy car lovers were spoilt for choice with three different choices for a supercar with a few green credentials mixed in to immense performance and enormous cost – the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder.
But Porsche was a little bolder with the 918 Spyder and decided its production run should be 918 units, but it too is almost sold out, with Porsche marketing man in North America, Andre Oosthuizen, telling Automotive News that production of the 918 is sold out until April 2015, and with production due to end in July 2015 there most be only a small number of 918s left to sell.
And really, that should come as no surprise as the Porsche offers things the McLaren and Ferrari can’t, like targa roof panels and four-wheel-drive, enormous performance, 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds (for the Weissach version) and real-world economy of around 30mpg.
More importantly, with the McLaren and Ferrari sold out, it has been the only hybrid hypercar available since the P1 sold out nearly a year ago.
So if you have a spare £750k or so and want a 4WD hybrid hypercar, you’d better get a shake on.
