2015 Hyundai i20 price & specs – costs from £10,695

The ‘New Generation’ Hyundai i20, revealed at this year’s Paris Motor Show, goes on sale in the UK priced from £10,695 for the 1.2 litre i20 S model.

The previous Hyundai i20 was a car that managed to move Hyundai a long way along the road from bargain buy to mainstream contender, and the New Generation Hyundai i20 – which debuted at Paris this year – is a car that looks good enough to persuade some the Ford Fiesta isn’t the default choice in this sector.

The new i20s design has cleverly evolved to look up to date, with a longer bonnet and shorter rear overhang – together with the ‘floating’ roof – giving the i20 some presence.

Inside there’s more room thanks to a new chassis, and some very grown-up options like panoramic opening glass roof, heated seats, climate control and Smartphone Docking making your phone a centerpiece of the all new dashboard.

Engine options are a 75 PS 1.2 litre petrol and 75 PS 1.1 litre CDI in S models, the SE models get a 1.2 litre petrol with 84 PS or 1.4 litre with 100 PS the 1.1 litre diesel with 75 PS or a 1.4 litre with 90 PS. Range-topping Premium and Premium SE models get the same engine choice as the SE (apart from the 1.1 litre diesel which isn’t available).

The entry-level i20 S gets decent levels of equipment including electric front windows, tinted windows, remote central locking, USB and electric door mirrors, with the S Blue adding Stop-Go and low rolling resistance tyres and the S Air adding AirCon.

The likely best-seller will be the i20 SE which adds 16″ alloys, Bluetooth with Voice, Cruise, Fogs, Lane Departure Warning, CD, rear electric windows, reversing sensors and the option of SatNav with reversing camera, Driver Assist Pack, LED cornering lights and Smartphone docking.

The i20 Premium ups the ante with auto lights and wipers, Climate, Cornering lights, LED running lights, LED tail lights and privacy glass with the range-topping i20 Premium SE adding front parking sensors, heated front seats, panoramic glass roof heated steering wheel.

The new Hyundai i20 arrives in Hyundai’s UK showrooms in January 2015.
