SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV revealed as rival for Nissan Juke
Following a single photo of the Ssangyong Tivoli Compact SUV in December, Ssangyoong has now unveiled the Tivoli in Korea, and although it may not be the most exciting and interesting compact SUV on the market, it does promise to do wonders for SsangYong’s sales.
The interior looks a notch or three up on SsangYong’s previous efforts, with decent looking materials, class-leading interior space, sports steering wheel (whatever a sports steering wheel in a compact SUV is) and decent connectivity including HDMI.
The spec seems to be decent too, with auto lights and wipers, heated steering wheel and seats, parking sensors, cruise and a rear-view camera.
Power comes from either a 1.6 litre petrol or 1.6 litre diesel – with either auto or manual gearbox – with launch cars all front-wheel-drive, but a 4WD option will arrive later in 2015.
It’s actually a very decent effort from SsangYong, and a good start as the first all new car since Mahindra took the reins.
And at a starting price that will undercut cars like the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur – somewhere between £12k and £13k – it looks likely the Tivoli won’t struggle too much to find its way out of Ssangyong’s UK showrooms.
