Jaguar F-Pace Crossover teased ahead of Frankfurt
The Jaguar F-Pace – Jaguar’s Crossover/SUV production take on the C-X17 Concept – is teased on video ahead of a debut in Frankfurt in the autumn.
The Jaguar F-Pace isn’t expected to hold too many surprises when it arrives at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, as it’s very close in production guise to the C-X17 Concept we’ve been seeing for a couple of years. That opinion is reinforced with a new tease video Jaguar has released for the F-Pace (below), showing a car that could easily be the original concept. But it’s not – it’s the production car.
Using Jaguar’s aluminium platform (the same one that underpins the XE and the latest XF) should mean the F-Pace is far more road hungry than the offerings from Land Rover, clearly an important differentiator for JLR, even if the F-pace will still attract the same sort of yummy-mummy clientèle as the Evoque.
Under the bonnet we’ll be seeing JLR’s new 2.0 litre diesel and petrol options as well as a performance version with the 3.0 litre supercharged engine found in the F-Type. But we’re also expecting, eventually, that Jaguar will bolt in the 5.0 litre Supercharged engine for an SVO version.
According to Jaguar, the F-Pace is “…a blend of exhilarating performance, intuitive technology and class-leading practicality”, which is setting the bar rather high.
But if Jaguar has got the F-Pace right – and it’s looking promising – it could be a big seller. No doubt there will be plenty more F-Pace teases between now and September.
