2016 Mercedes C-Class Coupe (finally) arrives

The 2016 Mercedes C-Class Coupe has been revealed as the third version of Mercedes C-Class ahead of its public debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
But Mercedes has finally taken the wraps of their BMW 4-Series competitor, although they’ve kept back the C63 for an additional reveal next week (19 August).
The new C-Class Coupe offers nothing very surprising, although it does look good with its front end taken from the C-Class saloon, a back end that looks to have been heavily influenced by the S-Class Coupe, lower ride height, narrow greenhouse and sloping coupe roofline.
Inside is familiar too, with a cabin taken almost wholesale from the C-Class saloon but with new sports seats, new colour choices and the Mercedes coupe trick of ‘handing’ you the seat belt when you plonk yourself in the seat.
Under the skin, the C-Class Coupe gets steel springs and two-mode adaptive damping – with a five-stage air suspension option – with the same multi-link setup as the saloon but with tweaks for a bit more dynamism.
Engine choices will again mimic the saloon, with the C180 Coupe getting the 1.6 litre petrol with 154bhp, the C200 Coupe the 2.0 litre with 181bhp and the C250 Coupe with 205bhp and the C300 with 241bhp. Diesel lovers catered for with a choice of 167bhp or 201bhp versions of Mercedes’ four cylinder diesel.
