2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe – new ‘spy’ photos with more detail
Mercedes-AMG has posted a few new photos of the 2016 C63 Coupe on Facebook, still covered in camouflage but showing more detail. Reveal on 19 August 2015.
The new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe is being teased once more, and although it’s still wearing camouflage, we can see more detail than in previous teasers, with the car in profile and a view of the back end.The tease are all part of Mercedes-AMG’s countdown to the reveal of the C63 Coupe in 22 days (19 August), although it does seem to making a meal of what is really just the C63 with a few tweaks.
As you’d expect, the roofline on the Coupe is far more sloping than the saloon (such a shock) and there’s a new back-end treatment including what appears to be a fixed spoiler on the boot and quad tail pipes.
But there will be changes under the skin too, with a suspension lowered and tuned for even more sportiness than the saloon (no doubt to the detriment of the ride), sharper steering and wider tyres.
Although suspension tweaks are on the cards, it does seem Mercedes are likely to offer the C63 Coupe with the same choice of power outputs as the saloon, with the regular C63 getting 469bhp and the Coupe S a more fulsome 503bhp, which should see the C63 Coupe romping to 62mph in as little as 3.9 seconds and taking chunks out of the BMW M4 in the process.
No doubt there’ll be more teases to come in the next 22 days before the C63 Coupe’s reveal, after which it will get its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
