Bugatti Chiron tease starts on video
The Bugatti Chiron (if, indeed, that turns out to be its name) arrives in the first tease for the mighty Bugatti Veyron’s replacement in this short video.
We’re expecting the successor to the Bugatti Veyron to be called the Chiron (although that’s not yet officially confirmed) and we’re also expecting it to arrive in 2016 – perhaps at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring. That’s still some time away, but despite that Bugatti has started what will inevitably be a long tease for the Chiron with this teaser video (below), which actually does nothing more than give us some engine noises, a view of the road and a narrative to go with it.
It seems pretty unlikely that Bugatti will follow the fashion for fewer cylinders, so it seems likely we’ll see the new Bugatti using a new version of the monstrous W16 in the Veyron, with expectations it could deliver up to 1500bhp.
But that 1500bhp is only likely to come with the help of some electrical assistance in the form of a hybrid setup which, together with even more advanced dynamics, should see the Chiron head towards 285mph.
Although the video gives no clue as to what the Chiron will look like (we have seen a glimpse in a recent Chiron spy video), it seems certain it will be an evolution of the Veyron rather than a new direction, and in terms of price we wouldn’t be surprised to see it at around the £2 million mark.
This may be all be rather vague, but it’s certain we’re in for a good six months of teases for the Chiron before it’s revealed, during which we should be able to put more flesh on the bones.
