Mercedes Concept IAA teased again. A future CLS, perhaps?
The Mercedes Concept IAA (Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile) is teased again ahead of a Frankfurt debut, looking like it could be a future CLS.
Over the weekend, we had a first look at the Mercedes Concept IAA, a new concept from Mercedes heading for Frankfurt, and it seemed likely it would be a concept in the mould of the F 015 – a look at the future of Mercedes rather than a specific future model. But we may have been wrong.Mercedes has now released a second teaser photo of the IAA (which stands for Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, not the IAA Show) showing the IAA in profile, and although it’s not exactly a production-looking Mercedes, it looks like it could be.
The double-bubble roof we thought we saw in the first photo is clearly visible, and there seems to be a lack of defining creases on the smooth bodywork, and in profile there is more than a hint of Audi A7. Presumably there’s some sort of active dynamics going on to justify to concept’s name too.
Mercedes are saying the IAA is two cars in one; an aerodynamic star and a stunning four-door coupe. We may be reading too much in to that, but it does sound like more than a pointer to a future CLS, perhaps even the CLS due after the next E-Class arrives.
Mercedes are due to unveil the IAA Concept this evening. More then.
