The BMW 4 Series is getting an update for 2017, with design tweaks, more technology and M Performance changes across Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible.
It’s getting on for two years since BMW gave the 3 Series a facelift, and they’ve finally got round to doing the same for the 4 Series range – Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible – with tweaks and titivations and prices starting from £32,525.The cosmetic tweaks for the 4 Series aren’t overwhelming, although they’re just enough to irritate you if you’ve just taken delivery of your shiny new car.
As you’d expect, at the front the bumpers come in for a minor tweak and new LED headlights nicked from the new 5 Series, and changes at the back are much the same. There are also some new alloy choices and a couple of new paint colour options – Snapper Rocks Blue and Sunset Orange
Inside, there’s a revised steering wheel and updated trim options in line with the 3 Series, as well as updated Sat Nav.
There are no changes to the engine lineup, although if you’re feeling really mean and love a cheap diesel you can now have a 4 Series Gran Coupe 418d with BMW’s 148bhp version of the 2.0 litre oil burner.
BMW also claim to have stiffened up the suspension on the Coupe and Gran Coupe for sportier handling on both standard models and those with M Sport and Adaptive suspension. Which is perhaps not what you want, but BMW assure us there is no loss of ride comfort.
The 2017 BMW 4 Series is now on sale at BMW’s UK dealers.
