Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce – a slightly warmer Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce arrives on sale in the UK bridging the gap from the regular Giulia range to the Quadrifoglio with this 276bhp Veloce. Costs £37,935.

The regular Alfa Romeo Giulia range joined the Giulia Quadrifoglio in the UK last year as Alfa delivered a car with much promise, and now that range is being extended further with the arrival of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce.

That means a new model with a much more interesting 2.0 litre delivering a warm 276bhp filling the gap between the top end of the regular models (with under 200bhp) and the potent Quadrifoglio with more than 500bhp.

The new 276bhp engine will only be available in the new Giulia Veloce (well, in the UK – other markets are different) and comes with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.

Alfa say the aluminium engine, with MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve activation, has a ‘2-in-1 turbo’, can get to 62mph in 5.7 seconds and returns official economy of 46.3mpg (think low 30s in the real world).

Complete with exterior styling from the Speciale – sports bumpers, gloss black highlights and dual exhausts – there’s also 18″ alloys, exclusive Misano Blue paint, and leather interior.

Standard equipment includes parking sensors, bigger brakes, Climate, Alfa DNA driving modes, 8.8″ infotainment and safety stuff like Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane DEparture Warning.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce is now on sale at Alfa’s UK dealers with prices starting at £37,935.
