Project Panther – a Lamborghini Huracan with De Tomaso Pantera skin
Dany Bahar’s Ares Design is planning a 21st century take on the De Tomaso Pantera using the underpinnings from the Lamborghini Huracan to created a modern Pantera supercar.
Dany Bahar is probably best known for his short-lived – and less than successful – outing as Lotus boss, and his dream to turn Lotus in to the Aston Martin of East Anglia with a wish list of cars which beggared belief. But having been ousted by Lotus, Bahar, a former Ferrari designer, is back with Ares Design – an ‘Atelier’ of bespoke luxury and performance cars – and their latest plan looks rather appealing.
So far, Ares Design has been a bit of a Mansory with an Italian bent, but now they have a new direction with a bespoke supercar they’re calling ‘Project Panther.’
Project Panther is taking the very impressive Lamborghini Huracan, complete with its stunning 5.2 litre V10, and giving it what can best described as a 21st century De Tomaso Pantera body.
The Pantera was a ‘blue collar’ supercar made between 1971 and 1992, complete with A Ford V8 and Italian styling, and despite several failed attempts has never managed to make a comeback.
Of course, this isn’t a revival of De Tomaso but is just a limited run of Pantera-inspired supercars to extract big money from lovers of bespoke cars.
But it’s actually quite appealing.
