New Honda Civic Diesel with a ‘REAL WORLD’ 76mpg UK Price and Spec
The new Honda Civic with the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine – promising ‘real World’ economy of 76mpg – goes on sale in the UK with prices from £20,120 to £24,925.
Last summer, Honda regaled us with details of their new 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel engine for the Civic which, they told us, would do 76mpg in the real world. That’s because, said Honda. that the new diesel Civic had been tested using the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), economy testing actually done on roads and expected to deliver official economy that is actually close to the sort of economy you can really expect.
Honda also pointed out that the Civic Diesel has been through the Real Driving Emission (RDE) procedure to validate its NOx and particulate emissions, and that the new engine has a NOx storage Converter (NSC) and bigger catalysts with higher active metal content. Which is all good.
Now, as Honda reveal prices and specs, there seems to be no claim on emissions and economy, so either Honda think they’ve already covered that, or the figures are yet to be confirmed. We’ll have to wait and see.
But if you fancy a diesel Honda Civic which has a chance of doing 76mpg, you’ll now be able to buy one, with prices starting at £20,120 and rising to £24,925.
Trim levels are the same as the Civic 1.0 VTEC Turbo petrol – S, SE, SR and EX – as well as a Tech Pack option on the EX which, for £600, adds LED headlights, LED fogs, wireless phone charging and heated rear seats.
If you want a new Civic Diesel in quick sticks, you’ll have to have it with a manual gearbox, but if you’re happy to wait until the summer you will be able to opt for an automatic.
