Lagonda Vision Concept – a look at Aston Martin’s ELECTRIC future

Lagonda Vision Concept - the electric future for Lagonda

Lagonda Vision Concept – the electric future for Lagonda

The Lagonda Vision Concept has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, showcasing Aston Martin’s electric future with an autonomous, for-wheel drive luxury four-seat limousine.

Aston Martin is on a bit of a roll at the moment, delivering impressive new models – like the new DB11 – and building a new Plant in Wales to deliver the Aston Martin DBX SUV.

But it’s now also giving a clear look at the way it sees the future with the arrival of the Lagonda Vision Concept , a four-door, four-seat autonomous electric limousine, previewing both an electric future for Lagonda and a new design language.

Just as Jaguar has done with the i-Pace, Lagonda has made the most of not having to accommodate a third of a ton of ICE under the bonnet to deliver a sleek limousine with a short bonnet, sharp lines and plenty of room inside, despite a footprint less than other limousines.

Aston Martin compare that modest footprint covering a state of the art car to Concorde, and just like Concorde Aston Martin has also made a car with a seemingly unique interior.

Lagonda Vision Concept interiorThey’ve employed Lord Snowdon (aka David Linley) to create a unique interior fusing modern materials like carbon fibre and ceramics with cashmere, wool and silk.

Other  unique touches include rear doors which hinge at the back, but are also linked to an opening roof aperture allowing passengers to literally step in to the car, a car Aston Martin see with a large degree of autonomy as Lagonda owners will probably choose to be driven – by electronics or chauffeur.

Aston Martin see the Lagonda Vision as the basis for a new Lagonda in three years time, so they’re factoring that in to its promise, with the suggestion it will have solid state batteries, a range of 400 miles and a full charge in minutes.

It’s an impressive concept, and an indication of the ever-growing confidence at Aston Martin. But we’re guessing AML are going to need help to deliver on its promise.
