The new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has been officially revealed as Aston replace the Vanquish with a 715bhp V12 Super GT. Costs from £225,000.
Yesterday morning we had a whole gallery of photos of the new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera as Aston’s new range-topper made its debut a little earlier than Aston had hoped. But they’ve now caught up.Now officially revealed, the new DBS Superleggera is an angry looking DB11 with some weight savings (in an effort to justify it Superleggera tag) thanks to carbon fibre panels and more (a drop of around 72kg on the DB11), but at 1800kg it’ still no lightweight. But it is a super GT.
The 5.2 litre turbo V12 under the bonnet has had its brain tweaked a bit and there’s a new exhaust to help liberate more than an extra 100 horses left dormant in the DB11, the result is 715bhp and 664lb/ft or torque, enough for 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and 0-100mph in 6.4s. You can, if you wish, push on to 211mph.
Under the skin the DBS sits on 5mm lower active suspension with tweaked geometry and torque vectoring, with more advanced aero, like the F1-inspired double-diffuser, delivering 180kg of downforce, with Aston promising “an unforgettable driving experience and class-leading in-gear acceleration”.
The inside, as we noted yesterday, is still very much DB11 – which is a bit of a shame – and you won’t be surprised Aston are expecting buyers to spend on personalisation, including Designer Specifications with special trim and colour combinations.
Andy Palmer, Aston’s CEO, said:
Thanks to the remarkable torque available from its twin-turbo V12, DBS Superleggera also packs a breath-taking punch, yet its dynamics have been carefully honed to engage drivers of all ability levels. Immaculately styled, obsessively engineered and outrageously potent, the new DBS Superleggera is every inch the Aston Martin flagship.
If you want a new DBS Superleggera, it’s going to cost you from £225,000, with deliveries in the UK due to start in Q3 2018.

That’s a pretty ghastly grill… Again.

It is a big ‘un! And we wonder how it will look when it’s got a number plate smack in the middle in the UK.
