New BMW X7 teased ahead of a debut this month
The new BMW X7 – a new range-topping SUV from BMW – is teased with a single front photo ahead of a debut later this month.
It did look like the new BMW X7 would make its debut at the Paris Motor Show, but now we know it will debut later this month instead, ahead of which BMW has started a tease for the new X7 with a single, rather misty, photo of the front of the new X7 (above).Published on Facebook, the first photo of the new X7 tells us not a lot, but its similarity to the X7 Concept (below), suggests the production version of the X7 won’t be straying too far from the its concept iteration.
BMW’s Range Rover answer has been a long time coming, first mooted before the 2008 financial crash – and then binned – it took until 2014 for BMW to confirm the X7 was in the mix, and to confirm it would arrive by 2018 and be built in the US (which, Trump antics considered, could change).
Similar in size to the Range Rover and Mercedes GLS, the X7 concept gets a huge kidney grille, clean lines, big air openings, huge alloys, scooped flanks and upright back end, with a three-row interior, digital instruments and lashings of leather and wood.
Power is expected to come from BMW’s 3.0 litre six and 4.4 litre V8, a hybrid version looks certain (the X7 Concept was a plug-in hybrid) and an ‘M’ version of some description is also in the mix.
Expect a tease or two more for the X7 before BMW finally take the wraps off.
