BMW has put together a Limited Edition X5 to celebrate 10 years of the model – the X5 xDrive35d 10-Year Edition.
I must be getting old. It only seems like five minutes since the BMW X5 barged its way in to the world, but it turns out it’s ten years. The X5 was in fact first shown at the NAIA in 1999, and with 4×4 sales pretty sluggish – to say the least – it’s probably not a bad idea to tell the world how successful the X5 has been, and throw a limited edition model in to the mix to help sales. So BMW has launched the BMW X5 xDrive35d 10-Year Edition with a special paint job and a box full of options. The exterior gets Sophisto Grey metallic paint and a new set of 20″ ‘Y’ spoke alloys. The chrome gets a matt finish and you get a panoramic roof thrown in.
The interior doesn’t get left out, where you get Nappa leather comfort seats, Piano black trim and a set of ’10th Anniversary’ logos.
Hard to believe, but BMW has sold almost 63,000 X5s in the last decade in the UK. The vast majority of those are diesels (which now account for 95% of X5 sales) and 80% opt for the M Sport trim.
BMW are planning on making just 2,000 xDrive35d 10-Year Editions, and only 200 will come to the UK.
So if you want to fork out £53,075 for this limited edition X5, best you get on with it.
