New Land Rover Defender driving 4,000 miles from Kazakhstan for its Frankfurt debut

The new Land Rover Defender is being driven 4,000 miles from Kazakhstan for its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 10 September 2019.

Despite the reveal of the new Land Rover Defender on the James Bond set a few weeks ago, Land Rover are following their pre-defined tease plan for the new Defender, with the latest from Land Rover a video teasing its route to the Frankfurt debut.

The shorts video posted by Land Rover (below) shows an undisguised Defender as a moving spot on the horizon (above) and looks to be what we expect the launch car to be – a new Defender 110.

Exactly how much of the new Land Rover Defender range we’ll actually get to see at its Frankfurt debut is still unclear, although it seems likely all we’ll get to see initially is the new Defender 110.

The middle of a range of three Defender sizes – 90, 100 and 130 – the 110 is likely to be the big seller, with the 90 versions aimed more at utilitarian and younger markets and the 130 as a stretched (although not the wheelbase) 110 with room for eight.

We’re expecting the Defender to come with a choice of three diesel engines – a D200 and D240 four-pot and a D300 straight six – and three petrol options – P300, P400 and a plug-in hybrid P400e – although whether all will be available from launch we’re yet to know.

With just a few days to go before the new Defender gets its official debut at Frankfurt we may have come to the end of Land Rover’s teases.

But don’t bank on it.
