Land Rover play tease with the new Defender
With the reveal of the new Land Rover Defender imminent, Land Rover are still playing ‘tease, despite the new Defender already seen undisguised.
You can’t say Land Rover hasn’t gone the extra mile to raise anticipation for the new Land Rover Defender this year, with more releases from Land Rover of ‘Spy’ shots and crumbs of information than you can shake a stick at.But, of course, the downside to all that PR is the raising of expectations, and Land Rover has set the bar rather high with the promise of everything from utility to luxury versions of the new Defender, and claims along the way that it will be the best a Defender can be, and all things to all men.
It’s also not supposed to look anything like the Defender DC100 Concept from many moons ago after that got panned, but now we’ve revealed the new Land Rover Defender on the James Bond set we’re not entirely sure that’s the case.
Still, despite that uncovering of the new Defender, Land Rover seem intent on pursuing their PR path to the reveal, so with under two weeks to go until the new Defender bows in we’re treated to a new tease from Land Rover.
The single photo of the new Defender (above) is the grille, suitably covered in mud to emphasise that this is the real deal, a real Land Rover with real off-road chops. Although it will, ultimately, be its on-road chops that drive sales.
Expect Land Rover to pursue its ‘Tease’ programme for the new Defender relentlessly to the bitter end.
