Max Verstappen takes POLE for Red Bull at Brazilian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen takes pole position at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, beating Sebastian Vettel in to second place on the grid. Hamilton starts third.
Verstappen takes his second pole (well, third if you count the one he lost in Mexico after a penalty) ahead of Sebastian Vettel, with Lewis Hamilton qualifying third, splitting the Ferraris of Vettel in front and Leclerc behind in the process, although Leclerc will have to take a 10-place penalty on the grid for an engine swap.
Behind the top four it’s Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes and Alex Albon in the second Red Bull filling row three, with Gasly in the Toro Rosso qualifying seventh, Grosjean in the Haas eighth, Raikkonen in the Alfa ninth and Magnussen in the second Haas in 10th. Although they’ll all move up a place at the start as Leclerc is demoted, with Norris in the McLaren actually starting tenth although team mate Sainz will start at the back of the grid after setting no time after an engine fault.
It’s an interesting grid formation, and could make for a good race with Hamilton working to better Verstappen, and the Ferraris could come good and make for some fun.
