The new electric Jaguar Type 01 will finally be revealed in October, ahead of which we get a first look at the 01’s interior.
Jaguar’s decision to abandon its entire product range in the pursuit of an EV future of high-end, Bentley-competing models will see its first official outing in October, as the Type 01 gets its debut.Of course, we already know quite a bit about the Type 01 – the production take on the Type 00 Concept we first saw almost two years ago, with camouflaged cars cropping up on test and Jaguar issuing some ‘official camouflaged images’ too, and confirmation of a 4WD 1000bhp powertrain.
Now, ahead of a full debut in October, Jaguar reveals its interior, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect for a production take on the Type 00’s interior.
Gone are the luxury cues we expect from a Jaguar cabin, and in come Scandi-looking vibes (not a million miles away from the new Range Rover GT), with a central brass-effect spine running down the cabin, effectively creating four individual compartments, with a single display screen for the driver and a small central controller for media and climate, plus a display for the rear-view mirror at the base of the windscreen, as there’s no rear window.
Thomas Holden, Chief Interior Designer at Jaguar, said:
Our holistic design philosophy translates the vehicle’s exterior presence into a distinctive interior architecture. In contrast to the horizontal interior design norm, we emphasise its dramatic longitudinal nature through the central spine – an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces. With authentic materials, technology on demand and reductive flowing surfaces, Type 01 presents unmistakable drama and theatre that will define the modern luxury automotive interior of the future.
