Aston Martin DB10 sells at Christies auctions
The Aston Martin DB10 from James Bond SPECTRE has been sold at auction by Christies for £2,434,500, £1 million above estimate.
Star cars from films (and even TV shows) tend to fetch big money at auction, and a car from James Bond even more so.So when it was announced that one of the Aston Martin DB10 models built specially for the SPECTRE 007 outing was going across the block at Christies, it was no surprise the top estimate was £1.5 million.
In reality, the £1.5 million estimate was way off the mark, and the DB10 – one of ten built for the film – ended up being sold for an impressive £2,434,500.
For £2.4 million, the new owner gets one of the two DB10s that weren’t used and abused in the film, but he/she won’t be able to jump in their new Aston and pop down to the pub for Sunday lunch – because it’s not road legal.
But road legal or not, the money the new buyer paid is going to do good, with all proceeds from the auction going to Médecins Sans Frontières, as does the money raised by other Bond memorabilia in the sale.
Aston Martin boss, Andy Palmer, said:
The DB10 is one of the rarest cars ever created. Only 10 will ever be made and this is the only one that will be made available for sale. It’s great to see this DB10 raising vital funds for Médecins Sans Frontières, it is a fantastic charity that we are delighted to support.
And if you want to grab some Bond stuff you still can, as the online Bond auction is set to continue until 23 February.
