Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato
Aston Martin delivers a first look at the DBS GT Zagato, the modern road part of the £7 million DBZ Centenary Collection which includes a new DB4 GT Zagato.
Last year, Aston Martin announced the DBZ Centenary Collection, the pairing of a continuation DB4 GT Zagato and a new DBS GT Zagato, only available as a pair and costing a rather large £7 million or so, with just 19 pairings being made available. The DB4 GT Zagato Continuation model is a pretty faithful recreation of the original which, despite reservations about ‘Continuation’ cars, is a stunning piece of historical beauty. But modern regulations won’t let you drive it on the road, so the new DBS GT Zagato is the other half of the deal which gets you out and about.
Revealed in a design sketch (above), the DBS GT Zagato is a DBS Superleggera underneath but all wrapped up in a new Zagato body which, say AML, is inspired by the mouth-watering beauty of its antecedent. And it does look good, even though there’s a dose of license in the image.
But the important Zagato bits are there, with the trademark double-bubble roof stretching right to the back of the car, and echoed on the bonnet, and a windscreen wraps round fighter jet style to remove harsh lines above the shoulder.
It won’t be until the end of 202 when the first DBS GT Zagatos arrive with their owners, although they will get the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation half of the pairing later this year.
