The Aston Martin Am-RB 001 Hypercar
The Aston Martin AM-RB 001 Hypercar – a collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing – is revealed as a v12 with 1000bhp per tonne.
At the Australian Grand Prix in March, Aston Martin announced it had teamed up with Red Bull Racing to create the ultimate hypercar. And now we get our first look at a car they hope will blow away any and all competition – the Aston Martin AM-RB 001.
This is the car designed by Adrian Newey, and it comes with a V12 engine producing 1000b hp per tonne. Which should make the Aston Martin Red Bull quicker than any of the current trio of hypercars – LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 (you can throw a Koenigsegg in to that list too) – and probably be twice as expensive.
Aston Martin say the AM-RB 001 will arrive in 2018, and that there will be somewhere between 99 and 150 road versions as well as 25 created just for track use.
Aston say the AM-RB will perform on the track like no other road car ever has, with its radical aerodynamics creating unprecedented levels of downforce, generated by the underfloor aerodynamics leaving designer Marek Reichman a relatively free hand to craft the body.
Adrian Newey said:
I’ve long harboured the desire to design a road car. The formation of Red Bull Advanced Technologies brought me a step closer to realising that ambition, but I believed we should work with an automotive manufacturer. Aston Martin was at the top of my list.
More will be revealed about the AM-RB 001 as 2018 nears, but it looks set to be perhaps the greatest road car to date.
