Bugatti Veyron La Finale is the last ever Veyron
The very last Bugatti Veyron – a Grand Sport Vitesse dubbed La Finale – has been built and sold and will be shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
When the Bugatti Veyron arrived a decade ago it was a marvel; the most powerful, most technologically advanced car ever made. And the car world looked on in awe at what Volkswagen had achieved. Although it should really have been a Bentley. But ten years of production – and more ‘Special Edition’ Veyrons than stock cars later – the world tends to look at the Veyron and yawn.
Sadly, unlike the previous ‘World’s Fastest Car’ title holder, the McLaren F1, VW managed to make too many – 450 in total – and cynically market them with endless ‘specials’ that added cost but devalued the brand.
The Veyron became a gaudy trinket for Middle Eastern buyers who could drop whatever Bugatti wanted for their latest ‘Special’ as if it were loose change. It became a rich man’s accessory, not a stunning car to be treasured and valued.
Thankfully, the Veyron is now over. The last ever car – a Grand Sport Vitesse La Finale – has been sold, appropriately, to a Middle Eastern buyer and will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next week alongside the very first Veyron, as VW say goodbye to a car that deserves its place in motoring history despite everything.
And now we wait to see what VW will do next with Bugatti.
In the meantime, why not take a look at some of the ‘Special’ Bugatti Veyron photo galleries?
