Cadillac are planning a return to the UK and Europe with a new dealer network which should be in place by March 2010.
For probably the first time ever, Cadillac has a range of cars that hold real appeal for car buyers in the UK and Europe. That’s down to a real shift in the US attitude to car building which is seeing cars with real doses of Euro-appeal being made, from the American hot-hatch – the Chevrolet Aveo RS – to the real supercar killer that is the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe.
Cadillac sales have never been huge in the UK and Europe – very much a niche market – and they ground to a halt completely last year amidst GM’s woes when the European distributor for Cadillac – the Dutch firm Kroymans- got in to financial difficulties.
But with a range of cars already in production – or on the way – which hold real appeal for the Euro petrol-head, Cadillac are planning to return to Europe in 2010. They are looking at setting up a new distribution network and are in talks with a number of distributors.
But it may well be that they already have the network they need in place with Opel/Vauxhall in Europe. It would make sense to utilise the existing GM network and bolt on a Cadillac dealership to a select number of Opel/Vauxhall outlets.
Whatever Cadillac decide to do we’re told it should be in place by the time of the Geneva Motor Show in March. Which should give buyers of Euro super saloons and coupes a real alternative with the Cadillac CTS-V and CTS-V Coupe.
